INBOTS Conference, the flagship event for the embracement of Interactive Robotics
In March 2019 the second annual INBOTS Conference will take place with a number of workshops at the European Robotics Forum 2019. It will be from march 20-22 in the city of Bucharest.
INBOTS celebrates its first year of life
On January 2019 the INBOTS Project members met in the iceland city of Reikjavik to celebrate the second annual meeting of this european Project. The event, hosted by Ossür, was a great opportunity to share the advances made on each área of expertise to promote the development and uptake of interactive robotics, while ensuring a responsable research and innovation paradigm in the field.
An acceleration program for the robotic industry
One of the objectives of INBOTS is to reinforce and promote the development of new strong companies working on robotics in Europe, for this reason we collaborate with RobotUnion, who is developing acceleration programs and contributing with funding and mentoring to stimulate SMEs in the robotics sector. RobotUnion will invest €4 million in 40 companies during 2 open calls from 2018 to 2020. In each open call, we will select 20 companies and will invest €2million.

How was the first INBOTS Conference?
The first Conference of the European project INBOTS took place in the Italian city of Pisa between October 16th and 18th, held in parallel to the 4th International Conference on NeuroRehabilitation (ICNR2018) and the International Symposium on Wearable Robotics (WeRob2018).

Hoy is progressing INBOTS on each Work Package?
All the work packages have already set a preliminary table of contents for their white papers and are working to have a preliminary version of this document for the mid-project revision that will take place during this year. The white papers will be dealing with:

WP1: Promote entrepreneurship and non-technical support to SMEs
The team working on this challenge have already collect some interviews of entrepreneurs to gather their experience founding their successful companies in order to determine the success points and help others.
Also has been created a data base of wearable robotics and humanoids companies with relevant information for future benchmarking, and they have already started classifying them according to sectorial and geographical criteria.
To outreach the analysis made, there is available a s survey to share knowledge and expertise surpassing non-technological barriers in the development of the different robotic solutions in real-life applications. ACCESS the survey
WP2: Promote debate on legal, ethics & socio-economic aspects
The team working on the promotion of a debate on legal, ethics & socio-economic aspects have been hardly working to attend and coordinate debate among diverse typologies of stakeholders affected by these issues.

WP3: Promote highly-accessible and multidisciplinary education programs
The INBOTS team working in the promotion of highly-accesible and multidisciplinary education programs is working on the identification of good practices on the different education levels to better educate on robotics. There is a serial of surveys to identify these best practices (Survey on Robotics in education), some of tehm
shared during the INBOTS Conference hold in Pisa.
They are also training needs and initiatives that are going on in the companies which are being investigated and the data analysis is in progress.
In addition, they have contributed in workshops and host another to reach the objectives settle in the project:

WP4: Coordinate standardization and benchmarking
The INBOTS team working on coordinate the standardization and benchmarking on interactive robotics is evaluating the conducted standards research made and is working on the identification of standardization needs at the same time that merges the idea of proposing the European Commission a certification of technology.
There is also available a survey to hear the experts on standardization of Interactive Robotics to gain knowledge of the robotics communities requirements in terms of standardization and the regulatory framework.
WP5: Propose a regulatory & risk management framework
The INBOTS team working on proposing a regulatory & risk management framework have been working on studies for the European Commission on “Safety of non-embedded software advanced robotics and AI” and for the JURI Committee of the European Parliament on Civil Liability for Drones”, among others.
WP6: Promote societal and socio-economic uptake of robotics
The INBOTS team working on promoting societal and socio-economic uptake of robotics have already identified best practices to reach its objectives and have delivered the first documentary video. This team is also working on an exhibition on the future of robots at the Swedish National Museum of Work in the city of Norrköping that will be on display in the autumn 2019.
